Treating Dry Skin During Cold Weather

It's evident that during cold season, our skin gets a lot drier, scalier, and itchier than ordinary. It's because this type of weather sucks the moisture out of our skin, leaving it dry and flaky.

Now, there are some ways to prevent further damage in your skin. After careful research, we listed down some of the facts that can help treat the dryness of your skin during cold weather.

Tip #1: Avoid long hot showers!

Instead use warm water when bathing because hot showers have the tendency to strip off natural moisture from your body, needed to keep your skin from drying out.

And most dermatologists suggest to take quick showers and as less often as possible, because the longer you soak your skin in water, the more essential oils are pulled out from the skin, causing it to dry out.

Tip #2: Moisturize daily

Since your skin dries up with lack of moisture, daily usage of moisturizer will make up for the loss. Applying a generous amount of cream moisturizers and essential body oils can contribute to a quick recovery of your skin.

Tip #3: Exfoliate gently

Don't think that if you have dry skin, exfoliating is a no-no. Shedding old and dry skin is vital for moisturizers to penetrate even deeper onto your new skin and prevent it from scaling. However, be careful not to over-exfoliate. Once a week of gentle scrubbing should be enough.

We hope these tips will help you avoid getting dehydrated, unmoisturized skin conditions during the cold winter!
