Bottoms Up! 4 Common Booty Concerns

Updated: Apr 14, 2021

Don’t be shy! Sometimes, booty concern is one of the main problems for not being able to freely and truly be confident in one’s own skin. May it be for a beach trip so you can wear a bikini or a lingerie for a sexy night with your S.O., or even just for yourself when you’re just too conscious about what’s going on down there 👀

We’re here to tell you that you are not alone! Here are 4 of the common skin problems on your bum:

1. Dark Shadowy Buttocks

There are a number of reasons why it’s dark or even getting darker down there. It could be because you always (1) wear tight and skinny pants and bottoms which hinders good blood circulation which means lack of blood supply therefore causes the skin to darken. Your (2) weight may also be a reason because unfortunately, dark inner thighs and buttocks are much more common in obese people. Why? Due to friction.

Heat causes darkening of the skin. (3) Improper hygienic condition and (4) sitting all day long can also cause some darkening. The skin on those areas are delicate and needs some extra care that’s why any improper cleanliness and putting pressure on your butt area all day long may lead to irritation and accumulation of dead skin cells

Don’t sit for a long time. If necessary, stand from time to time, and of course, always keep it clean.

2. Acne on the Butt?

If the rash is red or hyperpigmented with tender, pimple-like bumps, it’s probably: folliculitis.

Most people call it butt-acne, but it’s not entirely accurate. Acne-like bumps on the buttocks are caused by inflammation of hair follicles, which is called folliculitis. Oil and dead skin get clogged in the follicle, causing inflammation. It also typically develops because of friction between the clothing and the skin, combined with sweating, which disrupts the outer skin layer

Mild cases may be helped by washing with antibacterial soap and topical antibiotic cream application. To prevent future outbreaks, keep the skin clean and dry (especially after workouts) and wear breathable fabrics.

3. Stretchmarks

We’re all familiar with these visible white or red lines usually seen on the arms, belly, thighs and butt. Stretch marks are caused by your skin stretching from rapid weight changes (say, during pregnancy) and these lines form when elastin and collagen fibers just below the surface weaken and tear, leaving streaks of indented skin.

4. Cellulite

Basically, a fancy name for the uneven dimpled flesh caused by bulging fat cells beneath the skin. This common concern for women appears to be a lumpy and bumpy skin because the fat is pushing against the connective tissue. Loss of skin thickness, which happens as we age, can also contribute to the appearance of cellulite.

But, don’t worry! In fact, about 90% of all women have cellulites!
